Office.EventType.BindingDataChanged event being fired unnecessarily even when no data changed RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

I am working on an excel content pane addin. In this I bind (TableBinding) to some user selected data and watch for changes to the data. While binding to the data, I use Office.FilterType.All. But when the user changes filtering on the bound table, the event is fired.

My expectation was that the event will not be triggered since my binding was for entire range, whereas only the filtering was changed. This trigger would have been expected if my binding was of type Office.FilterType.Visible. This behavior causes unnecessary processing.

Any reason on why this event is triggered this way? Also, any pointers on how to distinguish between valid data changes and filtering related events in my scenario?

    Regards,

    Rakesh
