redistributable VB 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I want to deploy an application developed with VB 2013, my question is "which redistributable should I apply?"

I only see C++ redistributables on the MS download site, but none for VB.

    Many thanks for your reply.

  • @GerritV2,

There is such a version called .NET Framework Client Profile, I suspect your full version may related to it. The .NET Framework Client Profile is just part of .NET Framework which support Client applications like Windows Form application and WPF application.

But I haven't used Install LE since it is a third party installer. So I'm not so sure what it means. In Microsoft normal installer, the prerequisite is like this:

So normally I think you just need that full version when deploy your app, that is OK for your VB applications.

    Best regards,

    Barry

  • Hello GerritV2,

VB is based on .NET Framework so please check your target .NET Framework and include the right .NET Framework version in your installer.

    Best regards,

    Barry

  • Hello Barry Wang,

many thanks for your reply, but still I am a bit confused about the naming.

On the download site I only see C++ redistributables (are the the same as for VB?) and using the Install LE I can use the correct .NET Framework, but it has the additional text "full version". Does this mean that the full .NET Framework is installed which seems to me a bit overdone.

    Many thanks for your reply.

    Best regards,

    GerritV2

  • Hello Barry,

many thanks for your reply; it helps me getting a better understanding.

I will try again the InstallShield LE, though it seems straightforward but for a novice it is not.

    I have marked your answer.

    Best regards,
