  • Never having used ther Bing Maps Services I have two questions

    1) my client would like to get the Lat/Long for a given address. I assume i need to use the Bing Spatial Data Services. Iis the LAt/Long that is returned the Lat/Long of the rooftop? or is it an approxiation for the zipcode or other location?

    2) is there a cost to use these services for internal enterprise applications? or to get a key?

  • 1) You can geocode a lot of locations at once using the Bing Spatial Data Services, or geocode one address at a time using the Bing REST services. If rooftop coordinates are available they will be returned in addition to any approximate coordinates that may be known for an approximate address.

    2) If your application is publically available and doesn't have a high volume of traffic then you could fall into a category where there is not cost. However if you are using this for an internal application then you will need a liscense. Take a look here to see where you might fit in: http://www.microsoft.com/maps/product/licensing.aspx Also you can contact maplic@microsoft.com with any licensing questions you might have.
