Grant permission to listen on TCP port? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm developing a Vista application that needs to open a TCP port to listen for inbound connections (in particular, push  notifications from Exchange 2007 Web Services) .  Is there any way I can grant the program or the user running the program permission to just open that TCP port without having to run the program as an administrator or prompt the user to enter username/password for an adminstrator account?  I was looking through the Local Security Policy security settings but did not see anything that seemed applicable.  I created a firewall rule to allow incomming connections on my TCP port, but my program still does not work unless I run it as an adminstrator.

    Thanks,

    Greg
