How make an existing database 'read only'? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I maintain an MS Access db (Access 2010) that has been converted to Dot Net and SQL Server.

We will import all the data from the main tables but there will be residual data that needs to be copied from the old database manually.

Is there a way to make the Access database read only so that it will be fully functional and yet not allow any data to be updated?

If you just make the database file itself read-only (by setting the file's read-only attribute), does the database still work well enough for you?
