ReportViewer toolbar menu rendering under report body RRS feed

I'm experiencing this incredibly stupid and braindead design issue with the ReportViewer control which is causing the reportViewer's export menu to render under the report body (which is awesome, because this is the behavior it should experience by default right?). The reportviewer in question is loading an SSRS 2008 report, and functioning on an IE8 browser, on an ASP.NET 4.0 application.

I've been literally spending most of my day playing around with various settings on the control and have not had a single ounce of success. I know that this is a known behavior issue with normal menu controls, and that it can be resolved by setting the z-index CSS property to be higher than that of the reportviewer, but the problem here is that the menu having the issue is imbedded in the control itself. Unfortunately, the ability to export the report into a document (especially an excel file) is an important requirement, so this is an unbelievably inconvenient flaw.

Anyone have a solution to this incredibly ridiculous problem?
