Cabs, unsupported registry root key RRS feed

  • Question

  • When attempting to use cabWiz to create a cab file I am getting the following error:
Error: Section [RegKeys] has an unsupported registry root key "??????????????"

This happens with the section [RegKeys] blank or with what VS2005 creates:

    [RegKeys]
    "HKCU","Software\%Manufacturer%","","0x00000000","
    "HKLM","Software\%Manufacturer%","","0x00000000","

What does it want under this section?

    Thanks

  • I noticed another thread on the forums around this as well. Appears to be a B2 specific issue which has now been fixed. I hand edited a file to test this. If you can send me your repro steps I can try with the RC build to make sure it is correctly addressed now

  • Try
    [RegKeys]
    "HKCU","Software\%Manufacturer%","","0x00000000","PutSomethingHere"
    "HKLM","Software\%Manufacturer%","","0x00000000","PutSomethingHere"

    It worked for me.

What are your repro steps on this ? Was this generated by the tool or did you hand edit this ?

  • They where generated by the tool, I hardly know what they mean or are used for.
