  • Question

  • Hi, i'm new at C++ and VC++ , and i don't know same basics. I have a homework that i can not deal by myself. So i'll be too happy if you help me. My problem is that; in my homework i'll make a simple chat programme using Windows forms. But i don't know using classes in the forms. For example, where to define the managed classes such as Socket. Then, i can't also call this class. Error occurs when i try to call such as MyWork::Form2::MyFunction() ...  Do you also suggest a good tutorial about these subjects. There are some codes in MSDN but i couldn't run them...

  • Perhaps you need to learn just the C++ language better before learning so much other stuff too. If so, then your school or university should improve their courses.

    I can't help you with Windows forms and managed classes, but perhaps I can help with MyWork::Form2::MyFunction(). Since you don't specify what they are, I can only guess, but I think you need to create and/or use instances of MyWork and Form2. Does that make sense?

  • In MSND library, i saw such an example to display user defined dialogs;

          Form ^ f = gcnew Form();

    And i changed this code to display my About.h  form dialog such as;

          Form ^ About = gcnew Form();

    But, i still see the same empty dialog instead of my About.h form. So how can i display this dialog when i click About menu ?

  • I don't see a problem with your code that you have posted here so the problem is likely caused by other code or project items. This problem though is not a VC language problem so you need to ask in another forum. I don't know if the VC General forum is appropriate.

    Where ever you ask this additional question, it will really help if you make the subject as relevant and meaningful as possible, then try to keep the discussion on-topic. If you have additional questions, then create additional threads.

    Re: Help rookie programmer please...

    Firstly, such questions are really outside the scope of this forum - for the scope of the VC Language forum please look at: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=789657&SiteID=1

    For such issues please use your school’s resources, a good textbook and/or an appropriate newsgroup, potentially one at http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups.
