    Why do these things happen on Friday Afternoons..

    I have two physical servers: WEB1 and WEB2

    Each have several websites

    Starting this morning, one of thew websites (mainwebsite) started not to function on port 80 but still functioned on port 443.

    Both are running on Windows Server 2008 SP1 - 64bit.

    All the other websites work fine on all ports.

    The outage is intermittent.  I will on a bookmark with the ip of mainwebsite on WEB1 several times (port 80) and it work... then go to WEB2 and it works then go back to WEB1 and it does not work.  Then wait a minute, then it works...

    The darn thing worked fine all last week. - so what changed? all we know of is that we are doing a backup of the SAN with a drobo via usb.  That is the only difference we know of...

    The event logs mention only a generic network transport error... I removed the http listener - unbound the ip - removed the ip from the bridge - rebotted - reverted - still does not work...

    Fridays.........!

    First, please try to delete temporary files/folder and check the result. (The path like C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files)

    Secondly, please recyle the application pool and check the result.

    On the other hand, please compare the Application Pools’ setting of those website. (E.g. Advanced Settings)

    Are there any errors in the Application log? How about any weird happenings in the IIS log around that time? It may we worth adjusting your application pool setting to allow for a greater number of failures if your site is being bombarded with requests.

    My site is accessed via a WAF and no there were no errors in any of the logs...

    We will see on Monday once the backup is finished...

    Well - that folder is full of stuff.... a lot of .compiled files . 

    The Application's pools settings seem OK - is there a way to export them so you can see them?

    You just need to delete the folder that name match the application name in the IIS.

    On the other hand, please try to create a new application under the Default Web Site in the IIS and configure it use that project. (Specify the project physical path)
