How to add a SmartArt item programmatically RRS feed

  • Question

  • Environment: O2010-32 on Win8-64.

Fairly often I use a SmartArt item in my emails, often a block arrow, to draw attention to a part of a screenshot that I pasted in an email. I like them to be dark red with no fill.

I use Ribbon > Insert > Shapes > [select a block arrow] > [draw arrow] > Shape Styles > [select dark red] > Shape Fill > [select No Fill] and done.

I'd like to create a QAT item to do this for me. I can write VBA, but I have not found a way yet to do this. I'm guessing I need to create a SmartArtLayout object, then add a SmartArt object to it and set some properties.

Has anyone gone down this road before?
