installing IIS on my home computer RRS feed

  • Question

  •  Hi:

I have Vista and am wondering if installing IIS will create any problems. I currently have Visual Web Developer 2008 Express edition and building web sites is working fine.

What I need IIS for is that I want to learn to use Web Services. Will installing IIS mess up my Web Developer which is working fine?

What, if any, are things for me to consider?  such as size of install.  What is the "Turning Windows features on or off " all about? Do I need to be an experienced Windows user to deal with this?

    Thanks a lot,

  • mkarmali,

It is better to use IIS during development so you can resolve permissions and other issues before deployment.  You must know only Vista Ultimate and Vista business can be used for Asp.net development because only both editions comes with IIS7 with Windows Authentications.  Post again if you still need help.
