Who sells subscriptions, and are you kidding me? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Microsoft, do you know how difficult it is to buy a subscription through retail channels for Standard Subscription Visual Studio 2017?

    ref:

    https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/pricing/

"Visual Studio Professional" is available as a Cloud Subscription, Standard Subscription and as a Standalone License. How about putting the Microsoft product number at the bottom of each column so IF a vendor decides to carry your products we know what one we are supposed to buy?

More importantly, what's going on in the market? I go to Amazon, <g class="gr_ gr_31 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" data-gr-id="31" id="31">NewEgg</g> and CDW and none of them appear to have either the cloud or the standard subscripts available. I hunt for it online and of the 2 paid Google ads that come up from vendors, one states for all the 2017 VS licenses that they are not available and the other vendor just looks too sketchy to deal with.

Yes, I know I can buy the subscription through the MS store or site, but why would I pay $1199 for ONE year when the above link states that retail vendors should be selling a subscription for $1,139 for TWO years?

    What's going on?

  • Sorry, but not helpful at all I'm afraid.

I want to buy a license. I want to go to an online store and order it. Period.

Do you know how long it would take to find a firm that sells licenses via "Solution Providers"? Further, the business returned via the search <g class="gr_ gr_134 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace" data-gr-id="134" id="134">don't</g> seem to have shopping carts. Or not the ones I checked.

    Please! 72 hours to buy!

"What to expect when contacting Microsoft solution providers

When a provider is interested, they'll typically contact you within 72 hours. Partners are only given a certain amount of time to respond to your inquiry, and if they don't respond in time, we'll send you an email with suggestions of similar partners who have better response times."

    Dear Karl,

You have provided some link but i don't see any link instead i see only this "<g class="gr_ gr_134 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace" data-gr-id="134" id="134">don't</g>" perhaps you should check before posting the links.

In order to buy the VSP Subscription through Volume Licensing contacting the Microsoft Partner / Reseller is the only way as it can't be purchased online / store.

Though you can check on the following link and contact the CDW customer support.

  • I did not provide a link. That's was inserted by the forum software for some reason. I had tried to remove it on the last post and the earlier post to no avail.  Perhaps Microsoft needs to have better forum software. Haven't been here for years and I see it hasn't improved. StackExchange is so much better.

Contacting a solution provider 3 at a time to see if they even sell a product is a ridiculous way to try to buy a $1,000 license.

    Thanks <g class="gr_ gr_27 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" data-gr-id="27" id="27">prathaprabhu</g>.

(I think the markup might be because I'm using Chrome. I remember now, the forums in the past didn't work if the poster was not using IE. I guess that's still the case?)
