Which edition of Windows 2008 Server is needed for running DTM tests RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We want to get our Virtual Miniport driver digitally signed by Microsoft.

Our aim is to get the driver digitally signed on the following platforms :

    1) Windows 2008 Server Standard Edition

    2)  Windows 2008 Server Standard Edition - 64 bit

How many DTM client machines do we need, for getting the digital signature on both the mentioned platforms?

Which editons of Windows 2008 Server should we install on DTM client machines, in order to run DTM tests?

    Thanks in advacnce,

    Indrani.

  • Hello,

If you test using the DTM and use the unclassified category, then NDIS test would not appear and you do not need more than one client.  If you test using the HCK, the tests appear based off of the features that are detected.  Some of the features may require more than one system to be connected.  What you would need to do in that case is setup a client, and see which features the HCK detected.  Then consult the HCK Help documentation to see what the test environment requirements are for the particular features.

    Thanks,

  • Hello,

In order to determine the answer to this question, we need to understand the functionality of the virtual miniport driver.  Is this a virtual network adapter?  If not, can you provide more detail?  If you do not feel comfortable sharing the information in this forum, you can send an email to us directly be emailing logofb@microsoft.com.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

We are not testing with HCK. We are using WLK for driver signing tests.

Do we need to use HCK, instead of WLK, to get the driver digital signature for Windows Server 2008-32bit?

If we want to get a digital signature for Windows Server 2008-32bit, do we need to install windows server 2008- datacenter edition-32bit on DTM Client machine?

    Thanks,

    Indrani
