Browser Plug-Ins in Metro IE 10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have noticed that plug-ins do not seem to work in the metro view of Internet Explorer. I have installed Silverlight from the desktop browser and it works fine in desktop mode. Does not work on Metro. One of the bloggers on Ars Technica was speculating that this is by design. Is this by design or is this just not fully baked?

IMHO, if this was a design decision it was not a good one. It does not improve user experience. It's annoying.

  • Thanks for asking jciliberti,

Metro style IE is  designed to be plug-in free.

Running Metro style IE plug-in free improves battery life as well as security, reliability, and privacy for consumers.  There is quite a bit of information about the Metro IE in this regard in this blog post and on the IE blog

    Hope this helps,
