How do I get stored procedure debugging from Visual Studio or Management Studio working? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have two similar databases on the same server, same instance, that should have the same permissions configuration.

On one database, I can debug stored procs from Visual Studio and from Management Studio.

From Visual Studio, I configure the connection in Server Explorer, right-click the stored procedure, and do "Step Into Stored Procedure".
From Management Studio, I can use F11 to step into a stored proecure call.

On the second database, neither of these approaches work.

In Visual Studio, the "Step Into Stored Procedure" command is not present on the right-click menu.
In Management Studio, F11 does a step over rather than a step into.

I assume this is some kind of permissions issue. Is there any way I can identify what this is and get this fixed?

I'm logged in as local Administrator with sysadmin server role in all cases and using Windows authentication.
