    Hi all,

I find 2 methods described for the captioned in the following link: http://www.beansoftware.com/ASP.NET-Tutorials/Generating-Excel-Reports.aspx

viz. "Two ways for generating Excel report will be discussed in this tutorial. The first one is using the "Response" class and the second one by manipulating the Excel objects that "Microsoft Excel 11.0" Objects provide."

Can anyone tell me the pro and cons of each approach, or simply, which one is better?

    Tony

Always better to go with the "Response" in production.

With  "Microsoft Excel 11.0" you need to have the Excel 11.0 com component to be installed in production or with the Host. Which is not always a good concept or the host might not allow you to do so.

    Hope that helps [Yes]

    Thanks.

In the VS2005 environment we just 'add' the com (reference) to the website.

Can you tell me the process for inclusion in production environment under a IIS server?

Can I just copy the .dll for the com to the directory under the Inetpub\wwwroot\ directory?
