  • Hi, Sowjanya,

You can create a custom workflow to send a notification workflow, and add the link to the task in the email body.

Here is a way to add the link:

    1. Create a custom workflow and add the action to send email.
    2. In the SharePoint designer, go to the task list you are handling, find the DispForm.aspx.
    3. Right click on it and go to properties and copy the location.

    1. Go to the email body of the action of sending email in the Workflow, add some informative message like “click here to see the task”
    2. Add a hyperlink for the message, in the address filed, click on the “…” button
    3. Paste the link you just copied. Add “?ID=” right after the link, then use the add or change lookup button to add the id of the current item.

    1. Fill the rest fields which are needed.

You can follow the instruction in this video, it works for workflow in 2010 as well:

  • Open task > Email Options expand it and task creation: "Open Email Editor" > Add the link and select the data source as "Task Properties", Field from Source is "Task URL" and Return field as "As String".
