NEWBE 2000 to 2008 Cluster DB Migration RRS feed

  • Hi All

    Sorry to bug you with this question, but i am looking for a way to migrate about 200 DB's from a 2000 SQL server to our new 2008 SQl Cluster.

    Does anybody has a example script for me so i have a jump start @ this.

  • Hi,

    There are many ways can help to migrate database from SQL Server 2000 to 2008. Here are some frequented used ones:

    • Backup&Restore
      Backup databases from SQL Server 2000 and then restore them on SQL Server 2008.
    •  Attach&Detach
      Detach databases from SQL Server 2005, copy data and log files and then attach them on SQL Server 2008.

    In either of above ways, the logins on the old server will not be transferred automatically; however, you can transfer logins via T-SQL or SSIS. For more information, please refer to
