What to do when windows deletes a Driver? RRS feed

I was having some problems with a CSR bluetooth usb dongle, so when i when to remove it windows 7 x64 asked me " do u want also to delete the driver files?"

    I hit YES.

Tha was enought to not allow me to use the dongle on my pc anymore, whenever I try it, windows checks windows update, then it thinks it has the same ver. as the online one, does not download it, try to install the one i own (wich i DON"T own, cause WINDOWS asked me bout delete it).

Then next step is a installation fail because it could not find the files.

is there ANYTHING i can do besides buying a non csr-dongle or formating my hard disc?

why doesn't windows know ITSELF deleted the driver ?

why it doesn't download it since instalation fails?

  • This forumn is for Windows Embedded Standard 2011 product. You may get a better answer in the windows 7 forumns.
I can give the standard answer - Use the driver CD if any that came with the device or download the driver for the device from the manufacturer's website. During install point to the downloaded driver and windows will pick it up. If the driver is not available in "windows update" mostly windows cannot find it.
