Static and Entity Framework RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a product that was built in 2000. It was based on LLBGen for the database. Also it was designed in the era where static was awesome. So we upgraded the application to EF 6 but we don't know how to handle the context lifespan. We know that static is now bad (in most cases) and that IoC and DI are good. However, we don't have the time to reverse every method in the entire application especially after we spent our last two sprints upgrading to EF 6.

So what is the best way to deal with the Entity Framework 6 context within an application that uses static for just about every class and every method? The application accepts web service requests (No REST!) and calls other web services. There are no windows services as far as I am aware.

    -Thank You
