x86 / x64 apps in Windows Store - Compatibility and getting featured RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an app that is scheduled to be released shortly.  It's built for x86 and ARM, and can't be immediately compiled for x64.  Today, I noticed this

"The app should run across all Windows 8 platforms (ARM, x86, and x64)."

    That raises three questions:

    1. Under "Supported Processors" in the Store, will my app show only x86 and ARM?
    2. Will x64 users be able to find and download my app?
    3. Does not having a specific x64 build preclude my app from ever being featured?

    With thanks in advance.

  • x86 binaries can run on x64 systems. Unless your app will benefit from x64 then x86 is fine. Most apps do not include an explicit x64 build, and .Net AnyCPU binaries default to x86.
