Not Getting all info in response RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am not getting the all required info in http response. for example for below end point:

    http://dev.virtualearth.net/REST/v1/Locations?query=Oak+Leaf+Dr\Silver+Spring\MD\20901&key=

I am not getting value "White Oak" in http response (it is available when searching same address in https://www.bing.com/maps [upper right side]).

If anyone happens to know how I can get that info, it will be a great help.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi Ashkay,

You are giving a road name without a precise address number and expecting a precise endpoint?  If I go to Bing.com/maps with what you gave I get the following https://binged.it/35MzNw8.  To get an exact location, you will need to provide a street address number.

    Sincerely,

    Justine

  • Thank you Justine for your response...
If you check on Bing maps page you will see the info that I am a looking for. I am unable to upload image (account is not verified)

https://imgur-com/Iw1CsmG replace -(hyphen) with . (dot). I am looking for "White Oak" value (upper right side, below profile button) in response text

  • Please provide the Bing link.  If the error is that there is data missing on our Map, you can report this as described at https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/da4a854c-2a50-43ca-a25a-c376de79ded8/report-a-data-issue?forum=bingmaps

  • Hi Ashkay,

I did read your original message and I do not see anything called "White Oak at following location https://binged.it/35MzNw8. Therefore I would not expect a value of "White Oak" in the Bing Maps response.

    Sincerely,

    IoTGirl

  • There are no things called "White Oak" on that map.  Maybe you have a custom pin you have added on your map?

  • Please try the following steps:

    1. Go to bing maps using the link I gave you. You should see the image I shared above

    2. Type "White Oak" in the map search and choose "White Oak, Maryland, US"

    3. A census region is shown in a large polygon and a pinkish city center is also shown at a significant distance from the Oak Leaf location.

Result:  I would not expect to see "White Oak" in a search for "Oak Leaf Drive" as it is a census region not a location.

If yes then can we get the census region name for any given address in API response?

Also as I can see, your screenshot is half I request you to refer my full screenshot at https://www.screencast.com/t/1YfXwpRYt you will see the value "White Oak" at right side of screenshot (pointed with red arrow).

  • Hi Ashkay,

You can get census regions using the Spacial Data Service. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/bingmaps/spatial-data-services/public-data-sources/2010-us-census-data-sources.Sincerely,
