Project Server 2007 Specifications RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I want to Know limits of Project Server 2007. I've seen http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/d996b2b0-4190-45ed-b28e-4016228d8ed3.aspx with 40000 resources by farm.

What means resources? (Projects, users, ...)

I've 1800 projects with installation of Project Server 2007. I wish to know limits of number of projects, number of users, ...

  • Resources are either work, cost or material resources which you can assign on tasks, creating assignments.

    Hope this helps,

  • Assuming you are asking the limits from a performance standpoint

I don't think there are any hard limits defined for project server, the test lab just gives you a guidelines for acceptable performance for a given set of hardware (also to note, this is a tightly controlled test lab environment) also capacity is directly affected by scalability

Now coming to the performance and throughput, it can be affected by multiple factors, and its not enough to characterize limits by just the number of projects, or the number of users you will have in the system, for eg. i have seen 2007 system having more than 7000 projects, however performance truly depends upon concurrency of user and the role mix,  usage pattern etc..

I would say to provide for more data load, add capacity to the database server and i think it would be able to handle more no of projects
