Active Directory Move RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have restructured our active directory. I need to move the DC, Exchange and other servers into the new OU.  The old OU and then new OU are both under the same domain.  I just made a new structure under the current domain.  What ramifications will this have on the Exchange server or the DC/DNS/DHCP server?

  • You exchange server should be fine from a move of OU, however, if you have any new GPO's applied then make sure that these are not going to cause any conflict on the server.

As to your DC you can't move this to another OU. It must reside in the Domain Controllers OU otherwise you will have problems.

There should be no impact on DNS of DHCP - again just make sure you have no GPO which could cause conflict.
