Modify Add new item link RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I have a SPF2010 Team Site with multiple displaying multiple list web parts on the default.aspx homepage.

I wanted to change the "Add new item" link at the bottom of each web part to something different, depending on the web part.

Using SharePoint Designer I see that I can highlight "Add new item" and then select "Hyperlink options". I can then update "Text to display:" from {$AddNewText} to Add new Product.

However on checking this today I noticed a few things.

    1) When clicking the updated link on the homepage the modal functionality no longer works, I am taken to the new item form.

    2) When saving the new item I am redirected to the AllItems.aspx page rather than the original default page.

    3) On looking in SharePoint Designer I see that my updated links no longer show the "Hyperlink options", it's just markup.

So, how should I change the "Add new item" so that it still functions correctly?

    Thanks
