regarding SQL Server Authentication RRS feed

  • Hello,

             I want to know If the SQL Server Users are in Domain under Active Directory, Can I restrict the Users to use only SQL Server Authentication and not windows authentication

  • I do not think you can disable WA, you can just DENY access to the window logins ...Make sure there is no such users in Admin group as well.

  • You cannot disable windows authentication. Any users part of active directory will use windows authentication, if you do not want those users to use windows authentication, then you remove those AD users and any groups to which they are added from the SQL logins. Create new SQL authentication users and grant appropriate permissions, but they will have to use the SQL authentication account name to connect to SQL, not the AD user name.
