Fatal Execution Engine Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Visual Studio 2008 closes automatically without any error when I create a new Silverlight Application project. This problem does not occur when Visual Studio 2008 SP1 is uninstalled and reinstalled on my system. But in that case there is no Xaml intellisense and silverlight toolbar in my application. On installing Silverlight 3 sdk and Tools, I get back Xaml intellisense but I cannot create a new Silverlight application. In some cases Visual Studio closes when I open a Xaml page in an existing silverlight project if I open it with Source code editor. VS does not crash when the Xaml page is opened with Xml editor. I have tried the commands devenv /setup, devenv /resetskippkgs, as mentioned in many posts but it does not help. I have also tried uninstalling Visual Studio and silverlight and reinstalling them a couple of times but this too does not help. My OS is Windows Server 2008. I am not able to obtain a crash dump in the process mentioned. In the event viewer I see an error in .net runtime as follows:

.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.3615 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (623E60B0) (80131506).

It would be a real relief from an annoying problem if anyone could help me out of this. Thanks.
