OS Migration From Windows server 2012 R2 to Windows Server 2016 on SharePoint 2013 Servers RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have a Windows Server OS migration from 2012 R2 to Windows Server 2016.

Following are the applications running on the server:

    • SharePoint Server 2013
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012
    • Apache Tomcat (to deploy .jar files on IIS server)

We have a SharePoint 2013 application which has custom built applications on C#, JavaScript and CSS.

I would like your valuable suggestions on following items:

    • Is OS upgrade is recommended on SharePoint Servers, if yes could you please let us know what all the steps which need to take care from SharePoint application side ?
    • What are the possible issues that I might face (SharePoint application related) ?
    • If possible, can anyone share your experience on OS migration?

    Regards,

    Sudheer

    Thanks & Regards, Sudheer

  • SharePoint Server 2013 does not support Windows Server 2016. You can go up to Windows Server 2012 R2 max, which is where you're at now.
