Grouping in reports RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

    I'm new to SSRS and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction....

    In the MS Access report designer, you can define fields upon which you can group by in the sorting and grouping list.  You simply choose your fields and drag which fields and/or static header/footer content you'd like to display.

    I cannot see in SSRS how I can accomplish this.

    What I am attempting to do is build a data form which has student information based in the designated Student ID header, course information based in the main data area (more than one course can be assigned to a student) and other static information/labels built into the group footer of the StudentID or the footer of the page.

    I am using BIDS 2008 writing reports on data hosted on SQL Server 2008 R2.

    Any help with this would much appreciated.

    Many thanks for your time in advance.

  • HI Divvy !

    You might need to have a look at below tutorial;

    It will walk you through how to create row groups in SSRS.

    Please let me know if this helps. Hopefully i have answered you correctly.

  • You can view/edit the static properties -

    Just click on the arrow within the group properties of your table/matrix and select "Advanced Mode."

    From there, you can click on each static member and edit its properties.

    I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.
