  • The updates are cumulative, so you should be fine installing Update 4.

  • Hi pvdg42,

I think my real problem is I still don't see the windows phone emulator or any options for windows phone in my visual studio 2013 ultimate. This is what I have. I have 64 bit processor with 64 bit windows 8.1 professional. I did turn on Virtualization technology in BIOS settings and turned on Hyper-V in windows features. I also downloaded windowsphone81sdkupdate1.exe and ran it without any problem. Should I install update 3 or update 4? Thanks.

According to your original post, "It says to get Update 3 for  Visual Studio 2013 to add the Windows Phone development tools"

So, since the updates are cumulative (meaning Update 4 includes everything from Updates 1 - 3), installing Update 4 should give you what you want.

Hope I'm not missing something in your question here.

  • Hi pvdg42,

I see there is an option for Windows Phone Application under C#, Windows Phone in this walkthrough  https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/ff402526(v=vs.105).aspx when I tried to create Windows Phone Application.  But, I can't find the same option in my VS2013.  I have only Store Apps (There is Windows Phone Apps under Store Apps), Windows desktop.. under C#. I know that one is Windows phone 8 in VS2012. One is Windows phone 8.1 in VS2013. But, supposedly, should we get the same project menu? Can you tell me what happened? or what I should do? Thanks.
