can't read the PDF attached file from exchange 2003 sp2 (the file is corrupted) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have an issue with reading the attached file (pdf) sended from users @apicrypt to internal users.

the smtp route is as following:

apicrypt --> domain A smtp mailbox -->  domain B smtp mailbox (exchange 2003) -->  domain B smtp  mailbox (exchange 2010)

the user who have a mailbox on domain A can read the attached file. he configure a forwarding rule to users on the domain B.

the user who have a mailbox on domain B mailbox exchange  2003 sp 2 server  can't open the attached file

the user who have a mailbox on domain B mailbox exchange  2010 server can read the attached file .

when i transfer the same mail from domain B smtp exchange 2010 to the user which mailbox is on domain B mailbox exchange  2003 sp 2 server, this user can open the attached file.

when the user on the domain A make a transfer rather than the forwarder rule, the attached file can't be opened by the users on domain B (Exchange 2003 and 2010).

the same users can open all attached files and also the pdf attached file sended from other users than apicrypt.

I followed the KB article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952770) to add application/pdf and added the  REG_SZ KnownContentTypes HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeWEB\OWA and  i removed “application/octet-stream” from the REG_SZ Level2MIMETypesHKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeWEB\OWABUT, it doesn't work.

could you help me to understand what happens and how i can figure out this problem ?

    thanks in advance
