I am having the same problem. I'm using the Activity1 class generated for me. Where is it supposed to come from? The Resource.Designer.cs file doesn't have it. Am I missing a reference or something?

@MikeYeager you are right it is not in the Resource.Designer.cs file, as it will only contain the resources you have created in your app. SimpleListItem1 is a part of Android.

Thanks, every little bit helps. It appears I made the rookie mistake of naming my project XXX.XXX.Android. Having the .Android on the end of the project (and more importantly the namespace) caused a naming conflict.

Correct - Once I recreated my project removing .Android from the name of my project things were good.

I had the same issue (same rookie mistake), had to change the project name to droid instead of android but still cant find the namespace, i'm trying to know the full namespace for Android.Resource

Guys found a solution for this from this thread using global:: before Android is the workaround.
