Install & use Access Runtime 2007 in windows 8.0 environment RRS feed

  • Question

  • I downloaded Runtime 2007 and clicked the .exe file. It installed without giving a clue where.  Can anyone suggest which directory might contain it and what name it is under.

  • Access Runtime 32 bit 2007 installs in
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12
    64-bit:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12

    Office 2007 = Office 12
    Office 2010 = Office 14
    Office 2013 = Office 15
    Office 2016 = Office 16 (finally in sync :)

  • George has provided the correct path names for given versions. Note that you cannot "launch" the msaccess runtime on its own. You must open a database. So you can achieve this by either double clicking on a accDB/accDE etc., or use a shortcut to msaccess.exe and supply the path name to the accDB file in that shortcut.

    eg:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\MSACCESS.EXE" "c:\MyProg\test.accde"

So as a heads up if you just launch the msaccess.exe without any database specified, the runtime will then simply shutdown (so you can't launch the runtime without a corresponding database).
