Issue with Workflows after deleting few sites from content DB RRS feed

  • Question

  • We wanted to move a site from one content DB to another, since the existing content DB size is exceeding the MS recommended storage limit. To move the site, we have restored the content DB (say DB1) to another new content DB (say DB2). The DB1 consist of 4 site collections. Root site, Site 1, Site 2, Site 3.

    1. Detached the content DB1 from SharePoint.

    2. Taken back up of DB1 and restored to new DB2.

    3. Gradual delete the Site 2 from DB1 and Gradual delete the Root site, Site 1 and Site 3 in DB2

    4. DB1 now contains Root site, Site 1 and Site 3. DB2 now has Site 2 alone. Both the DBs are now attached to SharePoint.

After completion of the activity, we are receiving the below error in our custom Workflows. ( NOTE: We are able to successfully attach the OOTB WF to the list item)

"Some workflows may not be shown. We were unable to reach the workflow service."

Can someone help with the above.

We have the below Server structure.

2 WFEs, 3 App servers with Workflow manager installed, 2 App servers with Search services installed and 2 DB servers.

We are noticing that a delete command is constantly running in the SQL server and is causing high memory usage in DB server. (May be because of the Gradual site delete command)

    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Thanks

  • We were able to resolve this issue with two ways.

one is, restoring the workflow databases .

Another approach is, unsubscribe the workflows from attached list and redeploy the solution and activate features.
