How to view logs generated by MSxpsPCL6.dll RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone,

Is there a way to view logs generated by MSxpsPCL6.dll? Currently, the filter is exiting silently and returns a 0 byte output. By the way, the printfilterpipelinesvc.exe host process does not crash. I have attached a debugger and the filter doesn't seem to be outputting any kind of logs. I can reproduce this 0 byte output behavior only on certain applications like Notepad.

    Thank you very much.

  • Hi John,

We have a limited amount of public debugging support on the MSxpsPCL6 filter. You can get the return code from the filter if you enable the Operational log of the Print-Service event log. Note that this is only supported for 8.1, and will appear in the format:

"An error occurred while printing job %ws, id %u on print queue %ws. Extra error information: %ws"

If the error message isn't enough to help you, I'd recommend following up with Microsoft Support. They can walk through the repro using private symbols and determine if you have a driver issue or if the issue is in Microsoft code.

    Thanks!

    Justin
