Spawn another thread within WCF for logging RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have very strict SLA requirements for my WCF service and I am trying to minimize calls to the database as much as possible. I need to be able to capture the service metrics which I am doing in the BeginRequest and the BeforeSendReply methods. That is, capturing the response times. Now I need to be able to write this in a dataabase table. I have a library for logging and I have referenced it within the WCF solution. And at BeforeSendReply I am planning on invoking the library to write the metrics into the database.

Now that part takes ~10 msecs to complete and I am wondering if there is some way I can do it without having the clients wait on the response. i.e. somehow spawn an asynchronous thread which doesnt interfere with the actual execution of the WCF. I hope I am making sense here. Thanks.
