Word new document frustrations RRS feed

  • Question

  • I hope this is the right place to post.

In Word 2007, when I want to create a new document I always end up clicking blank document and then the create button. This is frustrating because I think it's not efficient and doesn't give me the ability to indicate I always want to do this and don't ask me again. What am I not understanding about the process so I can avoid what I think is an inefficient workflow. What I want to do is select new document and have it open. Does this have something to do with Templates? How do I get out of templates if that is true.

Thank you, bald guy pulling out his hair.

Answers

  • You can press Ctrl+N to create a blank new document.

It's also possible to customize the Quick Access Toolbar and place a button on it to create a blank new document:

Click the dropdown arrow on the right hand side of the Quick Access Toolbar.

If New isn't ticked already, select it.
