DB frozen during restore state RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    I went to restore my development DB from a backup of my production DB, I do this somewhat frequently weather or not it's actually a good idea to use the production data for development.

    But this last time my DB is stuck restoring, I let it go last night figuring it would work through it. But it hasn't.  There is no CPU load on the server.  The Server was recently updated to 2008 OS the DB is still SQL2005

    Any idea on how to get this DB unstuck from it's resotring state, cycling the SQL processes didn't do it.

  • Run the following command:

    Code Snippet

    RESTORE DATABASE dbname

    WITH RECOVERY;

    It is waiting on you to apply a differential backup or transaction logs.
