VB 2005 --> VB 2014

Question
-
My company has been using Visual Studio 2005 for around 10 years. There has been talk about upgrading/updating to the newest version. If we decided not to, what types of problems would we eventually run into? Will support cease at some point? Will there be other compatibility issues down the road? Any opinions on whether this would be a good move would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Monday, January 12, 2015 2:38 PM

VB2014 does not yet exist so there is nothing to tell about problems you will get.
In fact with updating from 2005 to 2013 there should not be any issue.
(Although there are with all versions some considerations)
The VB team is strongly trying to avoid all kind of breaking changes.
Of course this is no guarantee that you will not be the first one.
But why don't you try it, VB2013 community version is freeware.

Hello,
You can upgrade to the current release of Visual Studio and still target the current Framework which gives you a better work environment in the IDE that also allows you when the time is right to upgrade to newer versions of the Framework.
Currently VS2005 support is listed here (as you can see there are different dates)
Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help, this will help others who are looking for solutions to the same or similar problem.
