problem renewing developers license

    Question

  • I am developing an App for a client. I gave them a Surface Pro, registered the developer's license, and side-loaded the app on it. Now that time has passed, they need to renew their license. Over the phone, I walked them through the command line steps given on:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/Hh974578.aspx

Trying on 3 different networks, they have been unable to get through to the registration server. It dies after they run the command:

    Show-WindowsDeveloperLicenseRegistration

They press the "I Agree" button, but the computer comes back with a message about not being able to reach the server. I was simultaneously renewing the license on my SurfaceRT and did not have problems. They are on the East Coast and I am near Los Angeles. Are there different servers?

They do not have VS2012 installed on their system.

    Thanks for your help,

    Dan

  • I found the fix! The clock was set completely wrong. Once I set the system time to the correct value, everything worked fine.
