IntelliTrace Features in Visual Studio editions RRS feed

  • Question

  • What are all the VS editions with IntelliTrace features and are there pieces missing from some editions?  I've read that Enterprise edition has it, but I'm not familiar with this edition.  I'm more familiar with Pro, Premium, and Ultimate.  Do any of these 3 editions have full or partial IntelliTrace features?  In the Benefits Comparison, I only see the follow mentioned and all 3 editions I'm familiar with and state they have:

IntelliTrace Collector for Visual Studio 2012 (v. 2012.1)
IntelliTrace Collector for Visual Studio 2012 (v. 2012.2)
IntelliTrace Collector for Visual Studio 2012 (v. 2012.4)

However the newer Benefit Comparison mentions Enterprise and Pro only with these:

IntelliTrace Collector for Visual Studio 2012 (v. 2012.1)
IntelliTrace Collector for Visual Studio 2012 (v. 2012.2)
IntelliTrace Collector for Visual Studio 2012 (v. 2012.4)
IntelliTrace Collector for Visual Studio 2013 Update 3
IntelliTrace Collector for Visual Studio 2013 Update 4

Finally, in "Compare Visual Studio 2015 Offerings", only Enterprise is mentioned having IntelliTrace.  I'm confused, please help.

Again, what are all the VS editions with IntelliTrace features and do these features vary?

    Thank you...Gary

  • Hi Schmookie,

Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.

For visual studio 2015: You can use IntelliTrace in Visual Studio Enterprise edition (but not the Professional or Community editions).

    Refer to: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd264915.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

IntelliTrace is the set of historical debugging technologies that extends the debugger in Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise.

    Refer to: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/Dn973014.aspx

So in visual studio 2015, Intellitrace is only in visual studio 2015 enterprise.

    Best Regards,
