  • General discussion

  • I looking a this online train in video Creating Custom Buttons using the upgraded Expression Blend 4 and when getting to the part to build and run the project I getting an ERROR!

    Creating Custom Buttons: http://www.microsoft.com/showcase/en/us/details/7ef4246b-d99e-4799-875c-f4197f9d272b

    The error I'm Getting is:

The specified solution configuration "Debug|MCD" is invalid.  Please specify a valid solution configuration using the Configuration and Platform properties(e.g. MSBuild.exe Solutions.sln/p:Configuration=Debug/p:Platform="AnyCPU") or leave those properties blank to use the default solution configuration.

How do I correct this to complete building my project?

  • There is a conflicting environment variable on your machines with this error, PLATFORM is set to MCD. Msbuild uses platform to set the target platform, MCD is not a valid value. Here is a solution:

  • Did you restart Blend after making the change?

  • I'd go with Chuck's suggestion but in case maybe the regedit route isn't for you I think you can accomplish the same thing with the method described here but replace the "HPD" with "MCD" for the example given.
