Why HCK Rest Test Overwirtes the Operating System Drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I run the HCK tests that require 2 systems, the operating system drive on one of the systems is formatted.  Of course this means that the test will fail to complete.  The test actually passes, then in the last step, when the Coretestshim is being uninstalled, the operating system drive is wiped out.

The test this happens on are:

    - Lun Reset Test without Outstanding IO - All Disks

    - Lun Reset Test without Outstanding IO - Single Disk

    - Lun Reset Test with Outstanding IO - All Disks

    - Lun Reset Test with Outstanding IO - Single Disk

    - Bus Reset Test

Has anyone else seen this issue?  It is very difficult to run tests when this keeps happening.

  • To set up these tests,

    - Lun Reset Test without Outstanding IO - All Disks

    - Lun Reset Test without Outstanding IO - Single Disk

    - Lun Reset Test with Outstanding IO - All Disks

    - Lun Reset Test with Outstanding IO - Single Disk

    - Bus Reset Test

You will need to use 2 systems.

I suggest one system with a GUI (System B) and one with Server Core (System A).  You will need the one with Server Core to pass the Operate in Server Core Test.

Once you set up the 2 systems, put them both under the same Machine Pool (under configuration).

Select both devices to test under Selection

In the test list, you will see twice as many tests - one of each tests for both systems.  Only run the test for System A.

For the 5 above tests, you will be prompted to select the servers.  Select System A as Server1 and System B as server2.

When the tests, complete, uncheck system B from the selection, this will remove the tests for System B from the list.

Note, I am saying to keep the tests for System A, because that is the one that passed Operate in Server Core Test.  System B (which has a GUI) will not be able to pass this test.
