DistributedCacheService not releasing memory after multiple reboots RRS feed

  • Question

  • DistributedCacheService is not releasing memory after multiple stop-cachecluster, iisreset and system reboots. When the service starts up, VMMap shows close to 3GB of committed memory, this value doesn't change after multiple reboots and no app connection to it. It looks like AppFabric is storing data somewhere and reloading everytime

AppFabric is a standalone instance. Max Memory set to 2GB, tried lowering this size to 100MB and still AppFabric booted to 3GB committed memory. Reserve is very small probably 4K

Any ideas on how to clear AppFabric memory?

  • Are you killing the DistributedCacheService? Are your AppFabric clients stopped as well? When you are talking about memory wich performance counter are you looking at exactly? Have you checked the Bytes in All Heap on the .NET Memory counter collection?
