  • I have installed visual studio 2013 update 2 using web installer.  how can i take backup of visual studio and install it in other pc without downloading again?

  • Hi Jerry,

    Unfortunately, you cannot take a backup of an installed version of VS and re-deploy it on another machine.

    Best option for you was/is downloading ISO image (even for VS bundled with Update 2 or Update 2 only) and use it offline, no matter how many times for how many machines you want to install.

    In addition to Sam's suggestion to download the ISO image, here is another way.

    Do you still have the web installer file? If you don't have it, please download it first.

    Then open the command prompt, drag the downloaded .exe file to that window then type "/layout". Like:

    The meaning of the /layout command line is create a copy of the media in specified folder

    After, you can choose a location to put the copy. AS the picture shows below:

    So, you can copy all the generated files and web installer to a removable hard disk. Then install Visual Studio in other machine with the removable hard disk without re-downloading.
