PowerQuery within SSIS in Sql 2016

    Question

  • Hi,

In mid-2015, some Sql Server MVPs mentioned that the SSIS team was working with the Power Query team to integrate Power Query to SSIS 2016.  Since then I have not heard anything and can't find anything in the 2016 documentation or online.

Does anybody know anything about this?

(note: I am not looking for a workaround)

    Thank you,

    Sebastien

  • Hi Sebastien,

Power Query source was planned (at least) to be part of SSIS 2016 to enable self-service ETL.

I think this has been pushed back, but I do not know any concrete info at this point in time.

I suggest you ask this question on the MS BI Team Blog

  • Hi Sebastien,

SQL Server 2016 now is a Community Technology Preview version. It's not the final version. Currently, Power Query is not integrated into SSIS.

If you have any concern about this behavior, you can submit a feedback at
http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback and hope it is resolved in the next release of service pack or product. Your feedback enables Microsoft to make software and services the best that they can be, Microsoft might consider to add this feature in the following release after official confirmation.

If this feature is available, Microsoft will announce this on the link below.
