  • these are not yet available. When announced at the Microsoft build conference just over a week ago it was said that TypeScript definitions are on the roadmap and will likely be made available around when the "preview" label comes off the release in a few months.

  • Currently it likely won't be till the end of summer as the control is growing very fast and creating the initial set of definitions will take some work as there are a lot of items in the automatically generated definitions which are part of the internal code base which isn't exposed through the public interface. (i.e. a lot of private classes and undocumented functions). This requires manually going through and verifying the definitions. Additionally we would need to double check the descriptions to ensure there they are correct and don't include any internal developer comments. Finally, there is a lot of new features being added daily and the definitions would be hard to keep up to date. Currently the V8 code base is updated 3 times a day. Once V8 is out of preview and a few additional key features are added, the main release branch will be updated less frequently, likely monthly, which would make it much easier to keep the definitions up to date.

That said, there are typescript definitions for Bing Maps V7 which contain a lot of the core map functionality. V8 is approximately 80% backwards compatible, so these definitions could be a decent interim solution:

  • It's not the end of the month yet :). I have them staged and am currently working on getting a nuget package online. Our July release update will likely be online by end of next week, but we will likely have the typescript definitions online before then.

  • Thats great! We are waiting so hard for it. If you are working on the nuget package right now, it looks like you have a first release ready. As a business Microsoft partner, is it possible to get the current stage of the type definitions? ;) Please contact me under steffen[dot]mangold[at]powerdoo.com
