  • Here is a link you may want to look at: http://sudeeptaganguly.wordpress.com/2010/07/25/how-to-configure-database-mirroring-in-an-active-directory-environment-using-sql-server-2008/

Its a HA/DR solution. The official support on Database Mirroring feature started with SQL Server 2005 SP1, though there was a way to enable this feature on the RTM version as well; however not supported by MS Support team. As of now, you should be on SQL Server 2005 SP3 version, as this is the minimum version on which you can ask for MS Support.

For more detailed information, you need to look at the following article as well: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc917680.aspx

    Hope, this may help.

  • Hi Vinoth

First choose principal server, mirror server and if required witness server.

Take the full and tlog backup of principal server.

    Enable 1400 trace flag

Restore full and tlog backup files in mirror sever with no recovery.

the principal server database name and mirror sever database names must be same and Recovery model is Full.

go to principal server db setting > mirroring and configure mirroring.

    Choose operating mode. Start mirroring.

When u configured mirroring transactional log buffer is copied from principal to mirror server?

  • Enable 1400 trace flag

This was the case only in SQL server 2005 RTM and from 2005 SP1 and above it is enabled by default. Let the OP come up with what he really needs to know about DB mirroring - its not an single page answer to explain the whole DB mirroring in this forum question.
