  • Each of the WDK's is designed to work with a specific Visual Studio.  As Pavel stated you need the VS 2015 for the Windows 10 WDK.   Everything about the WDK from the install to the build environment is locked to that version.

  • did you install the wdk before or after VS ? if before, go to the wdk in add/remove programs and select repair.

  • Ok Pavel A, can you please explain why VS 2015 is required instead of VS 2013 Ultimate edition ?

  • Reopening

Installed VS2015  (Community)  - Compiled with target toolset=WindowsKernelModeDriver10.0 and was very happy.

Then I did some unknown error, not even sure what, so I had to uninstall everything.

So I reinstalled VS2015 then installed "Windows Driver Kit - Windows 10.0.26639" then tried to compile my project only to see that I cannot.

    Probable Reason:  toolset=WindowsKernelModeDriver10.0(Not Installed)

    Help needed. Please.

  • Thank you Pavel.

Installed as instructed (90 minutes!) and restarted VS2015. Used the default setup as it includes the newer packages.

There's no difference. I still cannot compile drivers -  toolset=WindowsKernelModeDriver10.0(Not Installed)

Any additional idea short of reinstalling Windows?

    EDIT:

I've had to reinstall WDK 10. Well, I should have thought about it I guess. Now everything works fine. Thanks!
