Error 500 during SQL Server Backup of large file RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to backup a database to my Azure Storage container.

    I'm using

BACKUP DATABASE [MyDatabase] TO URL = 'https://myaccount.blob.core.windows.net/dbbackups/mycontainer/mydatabase.bak' WITH CREDENTIAL = 'AzureDBBackupsContainer' , FORMAT , COMPRESSION

This works perfectly with all my other databases, but they're all less than a gig each. The backed up size of the failing one is 16gb.

Using STATS=5, it gets to 20%, and then dies with the following error:

The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 3202

I'm unsure how to check what the 500 error is. Is there a login in Azure? Is there a way to resolve this issue?

  • Hello,

500 is a server side exception. Did you find out any information about the error in the server side Windows log.
